The British are coming, the British are coming.......and so am I

You just might be too. Have you seen Skins? Have you even heard of Skins. Well! Skins is a British television series that has just had its premier on BBC America. (Sunday nights at 9pm, 8pm central, check your local listings) Leave it to the Brits to be light years ahead the U.S. in provocative, innovative and down right titillating television. Although it's billed as a teen drama, I like to think of it more as a queen drama. Unlike what the censors and mini-minded media Moguls broadcast for us Yanks, weekly, you'll see scenes with nudity, sex, profanity, drug and alcohol use and even, heaven forbid, cigarette smoking. And folks let me tell you, the boys are kuh-yoot! ( that's cute made into a two syllable word to add extra emphasis) Topping the list is never-heard-of-before Mitch Hewer as Maxie who is actually a gay character on the show. Blond, blue-eyed, boundlessly beautiful and all of nineteen years old he certainly has this old queen thinking things usually reserved for quiet time only. Headlining the cast is Nicholas Hoult of About a Boy fame as Tony. Watch how their relationship grows and changes. I tell you there are surprises in each episode. How often can you say that about almost any series here in the U.S.? Even if you're not partial to the story lines although I don't know how you couldn't be, it's worth tuning in for the eye candy alone. OK, I have to sigh again now. Ah, sigh.
